Gracias Fer, gracias Mary, gracias Sam.

It’s been almost 3 years since I was still working in my cubicul as an engineer and doing weddings as a part time job when I remember I got this message from my friend Fer Juaristi: “Hey dude, I just booked a weeding in San Miguel de Allende! Do you want to come and shoot with me??!!”

By that time, I had only booked a few weddings in Reynosa (my local town) and of course I didn’t think about it much and said yes! It was Analía and Sergio’s wedding, one of the coolest adventures that I shared with Fer and one experience from which I learned a lot as a photographer.

Later that year, I shot another wedding with Fer, where I met Ric from Reelove and that was it, our paths didn’t cross again for a long time, we both kept working hard and growing as photographers until one day from last year Fer announces that he just booked a wedding in New Zealand! The furthest place on earth I believe!

So pretty much around 2 days after that, Fer sends me a tweet, very similar and exciting to the message that I received from him 2 years ago: “Dude, do you want to come and shoot with me in New Zealand?”

I don’t even know how to start telling how much that tweet from Fer has meant in my life, I honestly don’t know how to explain it. I can try by saying how unbelievable this adventure was, or by how blessed I feel that Fer and life have given me the chance to live this adventure, to go to unreal places on earth and do what I love to do. Or I can try by saying how meeting Sam and Mary taught me what human quality is or maybe I can just say that this job that I love is giving me surprises that not even in my wildest, most ridiculous dreams I have ever thought about. It is really complicated.

I can only say that my gratitude towards Fer is infinite, for inviting me to shoot with him in the furthest place on earth and also, that my gratitude is infinite to Mary and Sam, for being the most awesome couple on earth. I will never forget your gratitude towards us! I hope I can come back soon and I hope that this is the beginning of big and new adventures for the years to come. Thanks Fer, thanks Mary, thanks Sam.

Ceremony: Undisclosed Location ;) Picton, NZ
Venue: Herzog Winery, Restaurant & Vineyard Cottage, Malborough, New Zealand

So I was in charge to follow Sam and tell his story all the way until he arrived to the ceremony location. Mary traveled by air from Wellington, well, we traveled by sea :)

It was a very windy day in Wellington…

Time to hop in a yacht!

Love the decorations on the yacht, they were such playful shapes to capture…

Best groom wedding shoes ever!

Sam’s sister saw something in the ocean…

Cameras ready!

We got dolphins!! How cool is that for the groom’s ride to the ceremony?!

Loved this shot of the groom and his friends…

I still remember how hard my jaw dropped when I saw the ceremony location…

Everyone was so relaxed and chilling out, love the vibe for the ceremony…

It is time Sam!

Here comes the bride!

Light was unreal

Mary’s veil was to die for, just beautiful!

Time to tell how much you love each other!

This was such a beautiful moment, so real, so emotive…

Yesss!!

Love was in the air and in the sea!

The little moments are the good ones…

Love all the colors!! By the way I realized that my baby boy has his on cider brand in New Zealand ;)

Heading back to land and to the incredible wedding reception venue!

Turns out Mary is also captain, the youngest one ever in New Zealand (she got her license at 14) so she is an expert on the sea!

The tables were unreal, every single detail was taken care of!

This is my first time shooting in a vineyard, the experience was magical!

I’m a freak for wedding dress’ details!

Time for the speeches, a very emotive part of the day…

Mary, saying thank you to mom and dad…

Sam was funny and unique on his speech!

Oh boy, I still remember Mary’s Dad speech and I want to cry, there was such a huge emotional charge of joy, gratitude, respect and melancholy. This is why I love weddings…

… and after Dad’s speech, Mary just gave him this look, no words, just this look, for a few seconds, words were not necessary:

Very emotional moments…

… and joyful ones!

It was the end of the night, an incredible and memorable one.

Time for a Day After Session baby yeah!

Love this one!

It’s not hard to do a session when the couple is so madly in love…

Mighty bride yeah!

My tribute to my friend Fer ;)

Thanks for everything Mary and Sam!!!!!
